Sony Hall is a one-of-a-kind live music venue located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, nestled in the basement of the historic Paramount Hotel near Times Square. First opened in 1938 as Billy Rose's Diamond Horseshoe — a legendary dinner theater and vaudeville nightclub — the space has captivated New York audiences for nearly a century.
After decades serving as a Broadway theater and later an immersive theater home, the venue was reborn in March 2018 as Sony Hall, operated by Blue Note Entertainment Group in partnership with Sony Corporation. Much of the original art deco and baroque design was preserved, now enhanced by Sony's cutting-edge 360 Reality Audio system and 4K camera technology.
Today, Sony Hall hosts a multi-genre lineup of live music, private events, and dining experiences, with a full-service restaurant, two bars, and state-of-the-art sound and visuals that make every performance unmistakable.
The 12,000 sq. ft. main floor features Sony's 360 Reality Audio system with approximately 30 speakers, delivering an immersive surround-sound concert experience unlike any other venue in the city.
A full-service restaurant and two bars are integrated into the venue, open seven days a week. The street-level café and bar welcome guests before, during, and after shows in a richly designed setting.
With an open floor plan adaptable for catwalks and center stages, Sony Hall is available for private corporate and personal events. Elevators and ramps throughout ensure full wheelchair accessibility.
Billy Rose opens the Diamond Horseshoe in the basement of the Paramount Hotel — a lavish vaudeville nightclub famous for its "Long-Stemmed Beauties" chorus line and themed Gay Nineties décor.
Operating as a Broadway theater, the venue hosts the Tony Award-winning transfer of On Golden Pond, cementing its place in the legitimate theater world.
A $20 million renovation transforms the space for the immersive production Queen of the Night — a two-year sensation that reimagines the hall with hammered-gold floors and a bejeweled ceiling.
Sony Hall officially opens, operated by Blue Note Entertainment Group. Sony's 360 Reality Audio system is installed alongside 4K cameras, making it a global showcase for the future of live music technology.
